Electrical Connection IBEW/NECA in the News

This begins a busy two weeks of community support for the IBEW/NECA Electrical Connection.  On Thursday, Dec. 15th, the labor-management partnership will host the U.S. Probation’s annual holiday giving event at the IBEW Union Hall to support families in the justice system. The Electrical Connection is also donating $2,500 to the program which brightens the holidays for families with or a parent parents awaiting sentencing or on probation in justice system.  It featured a sit-down dinner for families, including about 300 children.  The event includes turkey giveaways, toys and warm coats for children, and a visit from Santa.

The following day, the Electrical Connection, will be down in Farmington, Mo. on Dec. 16th to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the St. Francois County “Shop with a Cop” program.  The Electrical Connection was first engaged in the law enforcement trust building program in 1995 by Danny Miller, COO of Farmington-based NECA contractor Total Electric, which has supported the program since its inception. To date, the Electrical Connection has donated $89,000 to the St. Francois County “Shop with a Cop” program, which serves more than 500 children annually.  The donation allows law enforcement and first responders to take children holiday shopping for gifts they would not otherwise receive.

The following week, on Dec. 21st, the Electrical Connection will be at the Ferguson “Shop with a Cop” program where children will receive holiday gifts from law enforcement.  The Electrical Connection helped relaunch the program in 2016 and has contributed $35,000 to support it ever since.

Meanwhile, throughout the winter the the IBEW Minority Caucus will be giving coats to children in need from its annually coat drive.
