The Electrical Connection is a decades-long enduring partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1 and the St. Louis Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).
The partnership traces its roots to the first commercial use of electricity and embraces the very heart and soul of the pioneering spirit that defines the Gateway to the West.
IBEW was founded in St. Louis in 1891 as the first skilled electrical union in the nation (hence, Local 1). NECA was founded in 1901, three years before the St. Louis World’s Fair dazzled the world with brilliant lighting delivered by the IBEW/NECA team.
Today, the Electrical Connection represents more than 4,500 highly skilled and safe electricians and communication technicians and more than 130 NECA contractors and IBEW signatories who employ them.
