This spring, a dynamic new entertainment venue debuted in Jefferson County thanks in part to Electrical Connection contractor Bell Electrical and its IBEW Local 1 workforce. The aptly named WOW! at 138 Fielder Lane in the Fenton area features an array of food, drink, golf and games. Working with ARCO Construction, Bell installed all electrical infrastructure powering mini golf and sport simulators, duck-pin bowling, Valo Arena curling and more. Bell provided precision rough in for the tilt-up construction, installed LED lighting and controls and powered multiple TVs and speakers. Learn more.
An annual charity program by IBEW Local 1 is delivering greater safety and security for homeowners. The St. Louis Labor Tribune reports that a group of IBEW Local 1 members teamed up with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis to install security cameras in North St. Louis, an area which was ravaged by last year’s May 16 tornado. Local 1 Business Representative Mike Newton said that the union has participated in the Ring camera effort the last five years as part of the league’s Public Safety Program and this year, installed cameras at 18 homes. The Urban League’s mission is to empower African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality and civil rights.
NECA Contractor Kay-Bee Electric is reminding homeowners to check electric service entering their homes for any instability. Over time, ground settlement can place stress on the electrical service entering the home. As the ground shifts and settles, it can cause the conduit and meter enclosure to move, eventually pulling the equipment away from the exterior wall. It’s an issue that is especially common in homes with underground electrical services and can occur in both newer construction and older homes. Left unaddressed, it can lead to equipment damage, water intrusion, and electrical safety concerns. Don’t try to repair it yourself but schedule an inspection and have the issue addressed by a licensed electrician.
