Electrical Connection Sponsors Children’s Activities Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Green Homes Great Health Festival on Sept. 28, 2013

ST. LOUIS — Families and their children are invited the 12th annual Green Homes and Great Health Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden and visit the Children’s Activities Center sponsored by the Electrical Connection. The Electrical Connection has also engaged Radio Disney in the event. Both organizations partner on a number of energy education initiatives for children.

The festival on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will showcase a multitude of options for sustainable living combined with positive ways to maintain the health of people and the planet. The Green Homes and Great Health Festival is included with Missouri Botanical Garden admission of $8 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under. St. Louis City and County residents enjoy free admission on Saturday before noon and are $4 thereafter. For more information visit the Missouri Botanical Garden web site.

Children and families can get in on the fun by building a sun-powered miniature roadster to compete in the popular annual solar car races. They can also sample treats cooked in solar ovens and snap photos with Fredbird and costumed recycling characters in the Planet Party Photo Booth. There will also be recycled arts activities led by St. Louis Public Radio and local arts groups, and sustainability-themed storytelling, puppet shows and face painting. In addition, it will feature EVie the Electric Vehicle from the St. Louis Science Center to learn about green energy.

Other events include engaging regional experts on home improvements for greener living, free health assessments and advice on wellness, a green vehicle show, painting an eco-mural on a Metro bus, a green marketplace, live music and an “Eat Well Local” food court.
