Electrical Connection Sponsors Annual STEM Recognition Breakfast in St Charles County

Feb. 10, 2015, ST. LOUIS — The Electrical Connection is joining Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles in saluting the best and brightest high school students at the annual STEM Recognition Breakfast at the Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters, Mo. The March 6, 2015 event, sponsored by the Electrical Connection, will honor 17 students from public and private high schools in St. Charles County who excel at science, technology, engineering and math. The Electrical Connection is a partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One and the St. Louis Chapter, National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

STEM is a national and regional effort to better prepare the workforce of tomorrow by encouraging today’s students to engage more in studies, events and careers involving science, technology, engineering and math. “The Electrical Connection’s support is greatly appreciated and symbolic of the importance the IBEW/NECA partnership places on STEM,” said Greg Prestemon, president, Partners for Progress. “For decades, it has provided our region with the highly skilled and safe workforce essential to the design and installation of our energy and technology needs. STEM is obviously critical to maintaining the quality of that workforce in the future.”

“We greatly value the partnerships we’ve developed over the years,” said Jim Curran, executive vice president, Electrical Connection. “IBEW/NECA continually strives to broaden participation in educational initiatives, like STEM, that must succeed if we are going to remain competitive in the global market.” The Electrical Connection has formed educational partnerships with the Saint Louis Science Center, Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Football Club, University of Missouri system, Missouri Botanical Garden and more.
