Electrical Connection IBEW/NECA in the News

A night drive up Elizabeth Avenue in The Hill area of St. Louis reveals more of the global support for Ukraine as the IBEW Local 1 union hall is poignantly lit in the colors of the Ukraine Flag.  “Among our more than 5,000 members, we have some who are of Ukrainian descent,” noted Frank Jacobs, IBEW business manager. “But even if we had none, we would still show our support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people because it’s just the right thing to do.”

NECA contractor TD4 Electrical Co. is now a 100% minority-owned company. It bought back the equity position held by St. Louis-based Guarantee Electrical Co., another NECA contractor. Founded in 2006 by Tommy L. Davis, Jr., TD4 provides a full range of high quality electrical contracting services. It has active projects in St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio. Local projects include major St. Louis landmarks including Missouri Botanical Garden, Centene Stadium (the new home of St. Louis City Soccer Club) and the BJC-3 campus renewal project. TD4 employs more than 75 electricians and has 30,000 square-feet of warehouse and office space locally. Learn more.

What better way to energize comradery than a good old fashion hockey game.  That’s exactly what IBEW Local 1 has done when it launched its two hockey teams.  A total of 32 players have been lighting the lamp and defending the pipes since skating in their first game on Jan. 28th this year.  But more than just a game, the initiative is part of IBEW’s RENEW (Reach-out and Engage Next-Gen Electrical Workers) to engage members 35 and younger or that have 10 years or less in Local 1 to become more active in the union to build future leadership.
