Electrical Connection IBEW/NECA in the News


There have been several recent milestones for NECA contractors and the major projects tapping IBEW/NECA electrical and communications skills.

Three NECA contractors have been named among the top specialty contractors in the Midwest by Engineering News Record (ENR) Midwest.  They include Sachs Electric, Guarantee Electrical and PayneCrest Electric.  See the full listing of top specialty contractors in the latest issue of ENR Midwest.

One of the largest projects in the region has broken ground – the $115 million build-to-suit campus for World Wide Technology (WWT) at Gateway Commerce Center in Edwardsville, Ill.  NECA contractor J.F. Electric is the electric contractor for this massive project which includes two buildings totaling 2.025 million square feet. WWT will devote one building to the production and assembly of technology equipment and the other to product storage and distribution. Meanwhile, NECA contractor PayneCrest Electric is performing the electrical work on the $78 million St. Louis Community Ice Center which broke ground in Maryland Heights on Aug. 16, 2018. It will serve as the new practice facility for the St. Louis Blues and will also serve amateur and college hockey in the region.  The project features three indoor ice rinks, one covered outdoor rink, retail and restaurant space, plus space for Mercy health care sports medicine services. NECA contractor Guarantee Electrical is part of the team building the new $550 million SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in Midtown.  Slated to open in 2020, the team celebrated the project’s progress with a “topping out” ceremony on Aug. 16, 2018.  Read more
