Electrical Connection IBEW/NECA in the News


A full array of NECA contractor services are being deployed to help build the high-tech 4220 Duncan building in the Cortex Innovation District.  National Electrical Contracting Co., Inc., Resource Electric, Precision Electrical Automation Services, Schaeffer Electric Co., Inc. and BRK Electrical Contractors, LLC are performing a variety of electrical installations, working with general contractor Tarlton Corp and developer Wexford Science and Technology.  According to the St. Louis Business Journal, tenants include Microsoft, the Cambridge Innovation Center; Innovation Hall, a venue leased and operated by Venture Café, which is affiliated with CIC; BJC WellAware, BJC HealthCare’s fitness and rehabilitation center and Accenture.  The building is expected to be completed in 2019.

NECA contractor Kaemmerlen Electric was part of the team that built the first Class A multi-tenant office building in west St. Louis County since 2008.  The $30 million, 126,000-square-foot structure is the third office building for Delmar Gardens and an eye-catcher according to St. Louis Construction News and Review.  It includes a curved light cove in the lobby to greet visitors.

Another NECA contractor, Guarantee Electrical Construction Co., performed the intricate electrical work on Webster University’s Browning Hall.  The 87,866-square-foot building hosts 27 labs, 71 offices, 132-seat auditorium and one general purpose classroom and advances Webster’s interdisciplinary research, according to St. Louis Construction News and Review.  

2017 closed out with four St. Louis NECA contractors ranked among the nation’s top specialty contractors according the construction trade publication Engineering News Record (ENR).   ENR ranked Sachs Electric Co. among the top 50 electrical contractors in the nation and top 100 specialty contractors with revenues of $233.3 million.  Other local NECA contractors ranked among the top subcontractors were:

·         Guarantee Electrical with $157 million in revenue.

·         PayneCrest Electric, Inc. with $118 million in revenue

·         Aschinger Electric Co. with $38.8 million in revenue

Meanwhile, Bell Electrical Contractors, Inc. is part of the MDU Construction Services Group, Inc. which ranked 10th largest nationally among electrical contractors with $547.4 million in revenue. According to the St. Louis Business Journal 2017 listing of the largest St. Louis electrical contractors, Bell accounted for $27 million of that revenue which by itself would earn placement among ENR’s Top 600 Contractors.
