Flopsie was sure happy as NECA contractor Grasser Electric donated 1,000 lbs. of bagged pet food to the Five Acres Animal Shelter. So were the other dogs and cats at the animal shelter at 1099 Pralle Lane in St. Charles, Mo.  Five Acres was originally founded in 1973 as the St. Charles Humane Society.   It has adopted “the Human Animal Support Services model (often referred to as HASS), focused on not only finding homes for pets in need in our community, but also promoting a lasting and healthy relationship between pets and their owners.”  Learn more.

Low-income homeowners are a little safer thanks to a volunteer initiative by IBEW Local 1 and IBEW Local 309.  Both teamed up with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis to install battery-operated Ring doorbell cameras for low-income homeowners as part of the non-profit organization’s public safety initiative.  Learn more.
