Hustle and savvy stick handling delivered a 5-3 victory for the IBEW Local 1 Shockers in its annual “braggin’ rights” game against Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562. The charity exhibition game at St. Louis Mills Mall raised money for Make-a-Wish Foundation. The hockey team was launched in 2020 with about 30 players. Today, IBEW fields two teams with more than 60 players.
The next generation of music production facilities is emerging in Chesterfield, where NECA contractor Guarantee Electrical and its IBEW Local 1 workforce are powering the future of live music. The Guarantee team provided electrical engineering and installation for the largest and most advanced tour rehearsal venue at the U.S., Gateway Studios & Production Services (GSPS).The multi-building 300,000-square-foot campus assignment included powering two 4000-amp switchboards and distribution across six buildings, all backed by a generator to keep the music going—no matter what.

Such is the case for PayneCrest Electric and its Prefabrication Manager Jim Glen. This July, Glen will be an expert speaker at the Advancing Electrical Prefabrication conference in Dallas, Texas. It is billed as “North America’s premier technical conference designed exclusively for electrical contractors eager to launch and scale their prefab operations, from BIM to shop to field.” Glen will be detailing advancements that are revolutionizing conduit prefabrication. Glen oversees PayneCrest’s 30,000-square-foot prefabrication facility near its headquarters in Overland, Mo.
