Having just laid 7,000 holiday wreaths at veteran gravesites at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery and IBEW Local 1’s Rick Dinnella and his team are striving to lay 14,000 wreaths next December. You can help. If you sponsor a wreath between now and Jan 17, 2025, you’ll get two wreaths for one. On Jan. 18, 2025, Rick’s will be retiring the wreaths placed in December. And finally, a tip of the cap to IBEW Local 1 business representative Lee Asher, IBEW’s workforce and NECA contractor Guarantee Electrical. In a little-known story back in August, Angela Brown, a single mom with a child on the autism spectrum, was faced with $4,000 in repairs to her Cape Girardeau home after a storm blew a tree down on her electrical service line. She couldn’t afford the repairs but managed to connect with Asher. “He listened to me and came to my home to look at the damage and offered a solution. The Electrical Connection partnership would mobilize a crew and get the materials to do the repairs for free.” Asher connected with Guarantee which performs complex commercial and industrial project nationally including assignments in Southeast Missouri. With the Electrical Connection donating services and materials, Guarantee and IBEW restored Brown’s power while also advising her on electrical upgrades in her home. “I was so grateful. My daughter and I had to endure a stretch of typical August heat, but the IBEW/NECA Electrical Connection gave us the relief we needed,” said Brown. “They were such a blessing and so professional, making sure that everything they installed met code.”
