St. Louis CNR Spotlights IBEW/NECA Pacesetting Training

ST. LOUIS–A leading St. Louis construction industry trade publication, St. Louis Construction News and Review (CNR), has spotlighted the pacesetting training at the IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center. The training center is jointly operated by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One and the St. Louis Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). IBEW/NECA form the Electrical Connection partnership

On April 23, 2015, CNR highlighted the IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center’s new cell tower safety and rescue training program, which prepares electrical workers for the growing need for cell tower installations, maintenance and upgrades. For this program, the IBEW/NECA partnership installed a 25-foot-tall cell tower on the site of the training facility at 2300 Hampton Ave. The tower is used for hands-on cell tower training, which will help to prepare electrical professionals to work more safely on cell towers and, in the case of an emergency, rescue incapacitated coworkers.

That same day, CNR also spotlighted IBEW/NECA for its green jobs training program. It noted that the program “trains more solar installers than any other solar training program in Missouri.” In 2013, CNR featured the IBEW/NECA commitment to renewable energy training with a story on the installation of 100 solar panels at the training facility. The investment not only creates more than 215 kilowatts of electricity/hour per day for the facility, but also facilitates training to prepare electrical workers for the growing demand for solar.

For more than 70 years, the IBEW/NECA partnership has anticipated the needs of construction consumers by creating pacesetting training programs for electrical professionals. Through its Electrical Connection partnership, IBEW/NECA provides safe and reliable electrical construction, maintenance, repair and replacement services throughout Missouri and nationwide.
