ST. LOUIS — The best and brightest in subjects shaping America’s future have been honored by the Electrical Connection and Partners for Progress in Greater St. Charles. A total 17 St. Charles County high school students were saluted at the annualSTEM Recognition Breakfast at the Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters, Mo. The March 7, 2014 event, sponsored by the Electrical Connection, honored students from public and private high schools in St. Charles County who excel at science, technology, engineering and math. The Electrical Connection is a partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One and the St. Louis Chapter, National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).
“The success of STEM is critically important to the electrical industry as our IBEW/NECA partnership invests in developing a future workforce to keep the U.S. competitive in the global economy,” said Jim Curran, executive vice president, Electrical Connection. “For decades, the IBEW/NECA Electrical Industry Training Center has been the prime producer of skilled and safe electricians need to build Missouri’s energy future to meet all the necessities of life.”
The Electrical Connection is advancing STEM initiatives not only through the STEM Recognition Breakfast, but through educational partnerships with Radio Disney, St. Louis Science Center, the Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club andMissouri University of Science and Technology (S&T).
