Two IBEW/NECA contractors took home honors in the 30th annual American Subcontractors Association (ASA) Midwest Council Awards gala.  Guarantee Electrical Co. was named the 2023 MEP Subcontractor of the Year while Bell Electrical Contractors earned the 2022 ASA Safety Cup.  According to the ASA, “subcontractors were judged on bid ethics and practice, safety policy and practices, jobsite supervision, communication, scheduling coordination, project relations, administrative procedures/paperwork, and quality workmanship.” Learn more.

A fixture in Florissant, Mo. since its founding, IBEW/NECA contractor Kay-Bee Electric is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.  The firm is led by Brian Kohnen, the son of John Kohnen – the “Kay” who with the “Bee,” John Behlmann, founded Kay-Bee in 1948 in Florissant, Mo.  Kay-Bee initially serve a burgeoning residential community, wiring numerous homes in Florissant and throughout North St. Louis County. It has broadened to serve an array of commercial, industrial and institutional clients.  It has also remained a steadfast supporter of the Florissant community, including donating services to light the historic Sacred Heart Church in Florissant.  Learn more.

Commercial Integrator tapped Electrical Connection contractor TSI Global Companies on the value of adding security to audio/visual services. Integrations leaders, like TSI Global, quickly learned that diversifying was essential to remaining a robust company during the recession. In an interview with TSI Global’s Senior Account Manager Tim Duncan, he noted that “Having a business model that caters to one or two vertical markets is very susceptible to a pandemic, recession or [other external factors].
