Three St. Louis NECA Electrical Contractors Ranked Among the Top 50 Nationally

ST.LOUIS — For a city of its size, St. Louis is making a big splash in a national ranking of the largest electrical contractors. Three St. Louis National Electrical Contractor Association (NECA)-member electrical contractors — Sachs Electric Co., PayneCrest Electric, Inc., and Guarantee Electrical Co. — are among the top 50 electrical contractors nationally according to the construction trade publication Engineering News Record (ENR). Aschinger Electric Co. Inc. joined the three to give St. Louis four local NECA contractors listed in ENR’s Oct. 20/27, 2014 cover story, “The Top 600 Specialty Contractors,” an annual ranking.

“The national rankings are a testament to the strength of all our St. Louis NECA contractors who continue to creatively adapt to better serve the needs of our customers,” said Doug Martin, executive vice president, St. Louis Chapter, NECA.

Sachs ranked 25th in the nation among electrical contractors with $272.1 million in 2013 revenues, a 23 percent increase over 2012. It ranked 58th among all specialty contractors nationally. PayneCrest had the biggest revenue jump of the top 50 electrical contractors — 127 percent — with revenues of $175 million, placing 38th among its peers. The firm ranked 105th among all specialty contractors. Guarantee ranked 41st among electrical contractors nationally with revenues of $170 million, a 26 percent increase over 2012.

“We’re proud to be part of a long history of contracting excellence that in some cases dates to the founding of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One which was founded in 1891 as the first IBEW local,” said Frank Jacobs, business manager, IBEW Local One. “Today, more of our contractors are introducing the enduring value of their work fortified by our highly skilled and safe workforce to customers nationwide.”

Aschinger Electric Co. Inc. was ranked 429th among all specialty contractors nationally with revenues of $33.4 million. Meanwhile, Bell Electrical Contractors, Inc. is part of the MDU Construction Services Group, Inc. which ranked 9th largest nationally among electrical contractors with $561.5 million in revenue. According to the St. Louis Business Journal listing of the largest St. Louis electrical contractors, Bell accounted for $38 million of that revenue which by itself would earn placement among the top 600 contractors. Other St. Louis area contractors who are represented by NECA and would have earned a ranking among the top 600 contractors based on 2013 revenue reported by the St. Louis Business Journal include: J.F. Electric Inc. ($125 million); Schneider Electric of St. Louis LLC ($33.7 million); Wegman Electrical Co. ($30.8 million); Kaemmerlen Electric ($29.9 million); Pyramid Electrical Contractors ($23 million); K & F Electric Inc., A Zak Co. ($21 million); RJP Electric LLC ($17.7 million); Kay Bee Electric ($16 million); and Schaeffer Electric Co., Inc. ($15.8 million).
