The Electrical Connection Supports Project Lead the Way at Jennings High School


ST. LOUIS– High tech career pathways are becoming clearer for students in the Jennings School District thanks to the Electrical Connection. On May 21, 2015, the Electrical Connection participatedin Project Lead the Way (PLTW), a national nonprofit STEM initiative, at Jennings High School. PLTW advance’s the nation goal of improving student performance in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in elementary, middle and high schools across the nation.

Project Lead the Way - JenningsAt the Jennings High School event, the Electrical Connection engaged students in electrical industry careers that they may have never considered otherwise. Instructor Tim Kelley of the St. Louis IBEW/NECA Electrical Industry Training Center explained the importance of the electrical industry in shaping the future of energy and technology. His presentation included a solar panel array used to teach apprentices about one of the newest and most sought after technologies in the electrical industry today.

The Electrical Connection has a long history of supporting STEM initiatives to prepare the workforce of the future and engage the public in the value of the Electrical Industry Training Center’s 70-plus year commitment training the highest skilled electricians and communication technicians. It sponsors many local organizations and takes part in numerous community outreach programs. The commitment is a major priority of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One and the St. Louis Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) which partners to form the Electrical Connection.
