ST. LOUIS — Six metro St. Louis firms and individuals are the proud recipients of the 2013 “Growing Green” Awards by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) — Missouri Gateway Chapter. The Electrical Connection co-sponsored the March 28, 2013 event held at the Palladium Saint Louis in downtown St. Louis. The awards honor individuals, groups and organizations actively transforming the built environment while sharing their knowledge of green building and sustainable practices.

“The Electrical Connection strongly values our professional working relationship with the USGBC Missouri Gateway Chapter,” said Jim Curran, executive vice president of the Electrical Connection. “And we are pleased to support the USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter to recognize individuals and organizations who are innovating, teaching and living a commitment to growing green.”

This year’s “Growing Green” award categories and recipients include:

• Emerging Leader — Courtney Howard of Cannon Design;
• Education — Southwestern Illinois College;
• Operational Excellence — Parkway School District;
• Restoration — Patty Maher of Tiger Lily Development;
• Innovation — SWT Design with an honorable mention to Cannon Design; and
• Community Champion — Old North St. Louis Restoration Group.
