Region's First Ever "Healing Field" Flags Offered for Memorial Day Remembrances

What:
A solemn remembrance held last September 11th will be recreated to start a series of weeklong memorials to honor those who died for our country in advance of Memorial Day. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2005, volunteers from the Electrical Connection and the Florissant Ambassadors will place more than 1,600 flags from the region's first-ever "Healing Field" at the soccer field on the grounds of the James J. Eagan Civic Center in Florissant, Mo. The "Healing Field" flags will be offered for sale to the public all week long to honor loved ones for Memorial Day. The 3-foot-by-5-foot flags were the centerpiece of last September's first-ever "Healing Field" honoring those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks September 11, 2001.A series of special events will be held throughout the week while the flags are offered for sale at $25 each with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The BackStoppers, the Florissant DARE program and other charities. The flags will be displayed through Memorial Day, May 30th.he St. Louis Electrical Connection, a partnership of union electrical contractors and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #1, donated $40,000 to make last year's Healing Field possible.

The flags will be placed in the field from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2005.

James J. Eagan Civic Center's soccer field at the intersection of Waterford and Parker roads in Florissant, Mo. From Interstate 270 east, exit at New Florissant Road and go left to Parker Road. Turn right on Parker and proceed to the center.
