NECA Contractors and the Electrical Connection Saluted In the St. Louis Business Journal’s Who’s Who in Energy


ST. LOUIS — For the third year in a row, representatives of the Electrical Connection are being recognized for leadership in the energy industry. Two Electrical Connection members, NECA contractors PayneCrest Electric, Inc. and Sachs Electric Co., were spotlighted in the St. Louis Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Energy.” Meanwhile, Jim Curran, executive vice president of the Electrical Connection, was also recognized. The Electrical Connection is a partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local One and the St. Louis Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

PayneCrest Project Executive Luke Peterson was honored for his ascension through the ranks of the electrical industry to orchestrate national projects for PayneCrest including the construction of the Solana Concentrated Solar Power Plant in Gila Bend, Az., the world┬┤s largest parabolic trough plant. Sachs Electric Chairman, President and CEO Clayton Scharff was saluted for leading the $272 million electrical contractor with professional engineering, operating in 23 states.

In recognizing Curran, the Business Journal noted that he “Leverages IBEW/NECA’s 100-plus-year-old legacy in electrical installations to meet Missouri’s future needs in both renewable and traditional forms of energy. Develops partnerships and creates education initiatives that include STEM subjects and robotics.” Curran serves on a number of energy-related boards including the Missouri Energy Initiative (MEI), where he is vice chair, Missouri Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Readiness Committee, US Green Building Council (USGBC) — Missouri Gateway Chapter, TECH 44, and the Univerdant Sustainability Network, LLC.

Curran has developed Electrical Connection energy and technology partnerships with the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Rams, Saint Louis Science Center, University of Missouri system, Saint Louis University, Washington University, Missouri Botanical Garden and Mathews Dickey Boys and Girls Club (MDBGC).

The honorees appeared in the Nov. 28, 2014 American City Business Journals chain of business publications in seven markets with active energy sectors including Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Pittsburgh, San Antonio and St. Louis.
