A more than 30-year veteran electrician with IBEW Local 1, Michael Newton advances IBEW/NECA electrical projects in the City of St. Louis. In his career, he has powered projects in commercial and industrial sectors locally including auto plants, Harrah’s Casino, the Thomas F. Eagleton United States Courthouse, and several power plants for Ameren Missouri.  Newton rose through the ranks serving on the IBEW apprenticeship committee and examining board before ascending to his current position as business representative. Newton serves on the workforce development committee of the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE).  Newton is also a member of the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus and works with Sylvester Taylor in mentoring young people navigating the challenges of life.
